About Us

Named after the Latin word for "orange," the Aurantiaco (pronounced ah-rahn-tee-ah-co) was founded in 2021 to publish exemplary undergraduate writing in the humanities and social sciences. Our team of editors reads and refines submissions to publish the best works by Clemson students.

Every year, The Aurantiaco hosts a Fall Lecture Series sponsored by Clemson's Phi Beta Kappa Chapter, the College of Arts & Humanities, and the Humanities Hub

The Aurantiaco Spring Symposium was a 2-day series of panels for students and faculty to engage with one another and discuss themes in art, history, politics, and the humanities. Speakers included Clemson professors and award-winning historians and philosophers.

The Aurantiaco was honored to host Francis Fukuyama in the Fall of 2024. Fukuyama's talk focused on the global crisis of democracy, discussing topics such as the rise of populism, the decline of trust in government institutions, and the attack on science.

We're excited to host this year's symposium on November 13th and 14th. This year's topic is The Future of AI, and we are honored to have panels composed of professors from various fields at Clemson, Anderson University, and USC Law School.
